Saturday...August 29th...2009

Today is open house day....Linda is having the Sisters home open today and tomorrow....we had a great prospect yesterday....and their home is sold!!!!!! So many people love our home BUT have their home to sell....sound familiar? We hope this new prospect works out....knowing there are so many homes on the market.....we will "keep the faith".....

A few updates:

Linda is doing well....I am struck by how much energy she has with stage IV cancer.....her attitude carries her to unbelievable places....I am often forgetting she has cancer and that it is "pushing to win". She is an inspiration ...

We want to acknowledge each and every one of you and your comments....they are not ignored or taken lightly....Linda and I look to them every day for strength and enlightenment ....we are a bit saddened when we hear someone has read the BLOG and not left a comment....we accept that for whatever reason there is....and want you to know that when you do leave a comment....even if one word.....it is taken to heart and gives much to us....and if you choose not to comment....please keep reading.

We are now putting together a summary of the BLOG communications to share with the DEFEAT CANCER program at St. Charles.....we will include our program summary on the BLOG when it is done......

We are watching Teddy Kennedy's funeral etc. closely....there is so much "gold" in what is being said....on how to treat others....what America should be all about....why it is so dysfunctional in our system at the moment and how many Americans have been "duped"....YES....we need and want health care for everyone....it is our obligations as Americans to support those less fortunate than us....and we see....with sadness...those who protest in a way to curb the truth from coming out ....having been fed senseless mean information that clouds insightful thinking and action. To have the sole mission of destroying our President whatever the issue is so the opposition can have a better chance of getting on firm ground is senseless and UNAMERICAN. End of speech.....

Linda - It was good to see you when you visited Zion. You are looking good! And you continue to be in my prayers.
I, too, have been watching the funeral of Ted Kennedy. He was an inspiration. His illness brought back many memories because my husband died of a brain tumor.

We're probably not supposed to talk politics in polite company but I so agree with your comments. The word "loyal" has been dropped from "opposition." Its goal is simly to oppose, no matter whether it is for the common good or not. The politics of fear is a difficult business. Now that the economy slowly turns back around (yes, I admit, slowly and has not started yet for many), the attacks become more personal to keep the level of anxiety high. So incredibly unproductive. The antithesis of the marvelous messages you teach us every day.

Just read your lengthy update from yesterday. It sounds like some good news sprinkled with some weirdness again. Linda, you sure do find some unusual conditions, and Dave you do a great job of explaining all of Linda's unusual conditions. You two make a great team.

As for health care, there are many "fortunate people" like myself who are struggling to pay expensive health care that doesn't provide much at the end of the day. We need something to change for everyone, not just the poor. I read something the other day that over 60% of bankruptcies are as a result of health care issues. The cost of health care is out of control. We need to do something, or it won't be long when illness like Linda's could ruin even the most successful.

Lots of love

Here, here Dad!! I'd love to see you on Bill O'Reilly. That'd be a good fight!

I'm crossing my fingers that the house sells and you'll soon be over on the other side of the mountain closer to family and friends.
Lots of love,
Janine

When I read Rosalie's comment, it occurred to me that maybe the reason that I had no interest in watching the Kennedy funeral is because Skip died of a brain tumor. That idea had not crossed my mind until just now.
At church tonight, a 21-yr-old stood before the congregation to tell how a foster family in Valley, NE turned his life around after having been born one of 7 to a crack cocaine mother and then was adopted by abusive parents. He was articulate, sincere and really made one want to do something to help other kids. I sure take for granted the great family I have...of which you are a part.
Good luck selling the house in Sisters. Maybe someone will want to buy the other one, too.
Love and prayers,
Ruth Ann

Hi you two... We have just arrived back home from our 5day camp trip on the Rogue... It has been great to read and catch up on all that is going on with the two of you....
We had a wonderful time on the river and as usual Miss Jillian was great! She is such a big help... Shall I say Jenn and Jim have trained her well when it comes to the river...:) She told me she will have her own boat before she has her first car, these are the words from her father.. She is such a daddies girl:).
We will be getting ready for school as this is the official last week of Summer. I cannot believe our girl will be in the 6the grade! This will be a great year for her as well as all of us...
Remember you are welcome anytime...We would love to have you.

I visited my brother today at his new home on a lake. This was his dream...we all have them. As Dave said, I am amazed at your energy, Linda. You are truely an inspriation. I watched the Indycar race tonight on tv that took place about 20 miles from our house. Fun race, but much sadness that we are no longer involved.
John and I are down to one car right now, so our "teamwork" includes co-ordinating who gets to have the car. It feels good to prove that we can do with less for awhile.
Picturing the two of you at the closing of your house...hope it happens soon.

Okay... I'm one of the apparent many that read often but never comment, so I will now for the first time.

It was great reading today about your strength Linda but of course that is just you! I have to admit I was somewhat unaware of what a great man and politician for the people Teddy was. So many wonderful stories on how he helped every-day people that he only just met... very cool and should be inspiring for us all.

I'm missing you both very much, as many here in Florida are, and anticipating your return so we can watch a movie and have dinner together... soon we hope! I have a whole new system for Dave and Steve to mess with that is 1080P Blue-ray; Steve will never go home now!

I hope it all works out with your "new" prospect and you can finally sell that house!

Till next time,
Mike

From a Canadian view on this subject were our health care is paid by our goverment. Paying a little extra in taxes seems to be better then losing everything when you can't afford to pay for your own health care plans. Our systems might seem slow at times but we never have to worry if we can afford the hugh medical cost that cancer or heart operation may bring.
It's good to hear that things are stable with you Linda. Dave thanks for keeping us update.
Take Care!

Guess we will have to agree to disagree on the political issues. However, a friend's son died of brain tumor, and my heart sank when I heard Kennedy had one last summer. At the time I said I would give him a year, and a friend scoffed at me and said he would be cured. It is a nasty death, and I would not wish it on anyone or their families.
