Happy New Year everyone! We read in one Facebook friend's comments that she was glad 2009 was behind her.....we wish to take a different approach and are thankful for each day of 2009 we had ...each was special in its own way....and we look forward to each day of the new year...may they be enjoyed by us to the fullest...and for each of you too.....
Today was our day to travel over the mountain pass and to the valley to see friends and family...but...the weather prediction for the pass was the worst we had seen...a major snow storm was in effect....but..we decided to go anyway and packed extra food and clothing in case we got stuck...what we got was a major rain storm...unbelievable...all the way across the mountains...all the way into Salem.
We stopped at Costco for a snack and made sure we thanked all the University of Oregon Duck fans...who play in the Rose Bowl tomorrow...for the rain they created (Ducks...rain..get it???).
We visited friends Dan and Maureen at their new town home in Salem.....very nice....if it were closer to Portland we'd buy one too.....we then went on to a new year's party at our old Salem neighbors and friends...who have moved to new neighborhoods...not planned but we had a great time visiting with wonderful people...Terry and Patti and Kathy (who's hubby Dave was ill and didn't make it)....and Dan and Maureen who used to live in our Salem neighborhood also....
Linda was so energized by seeing these "old" friends and neighbors....she could have stayed all night but we continued on to Portland to stay with daughter Janine.....
Pictures of some great neighbors and friends.........Maureen and Linda...then Maureen, Kathy, Linda, Patti, Terry and Dan....

Glad you made it safely to Portland. Hope the new year brings more wonderful times for both of you... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :)
Love,
Jim and Swee
Happy New Year to you two...I too, am not wishing away the old year, but at the same time looking to the new year for some changes in me and my outlook. You guys have shown me through this blog and through our visits, that nothing is impossible as long as you embrace it fully. Here's to getting thrown out of a few more restaurants with you both!!
Happy New Year to the both of you!!! May each day of 2010 bring you joy and great health. We were supposed to go to my brother's house for an evening visit with my nephew. He just got back to Nebraska from the Holiday Bowl where his team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, won a shut-out against Arizona. It is fun to hear about the "bowl" experience with someone who works the event. (He works for the school's video dept.) Unfortunately, his 3-month-old son was under the weather, so they decided not to make the 8-hour trip.
Very cold here in the Midwest. That seems to be how we embrace the New Year!
As always, Linda, you continue to inspire and amaze me with your humor, courage, and strength. You will never know how many lives you touch by your example.
Marilyn
Dave and Linda,
How great our New Year's was with
your company... The laughs and
good friendship always is a wonderful lift. What a way to start the New Year. Can't wait til you buy the townhome next door and Dave and Dan can put a door through to their MANROOM'S!
We won't ever see them...
Great seeing you Linda like old
times. Let's do it more in 2010!!! After you left everyone
said it was great seeing you and
enjoying your company. Tell Janine HI from us...
Love, Maureen and Dan
