Tuesday....January 19th...20010...753rd BLOG

Remember the song..."What a Difference a Day Makes"?

What a difference a day made
Twenty-four little hours
Brought the sun and the flowers
Where there used to be rain

Mrs. Wood has done an amazing "turn around.....from a crunched over invalid to an upright purpose driven individual...she thinks it is because of the steroids she is taking because of the chemo infusion today.....who knows.....but it is a welcome sight.
A busy day today with multiple appointments in town.....

The first visit was to get the remainder of the staples out from Linda's surgery...no drama there.....then on to the Oncologist who said her blood counts and vitals were excellent....he said to start the "maintenance therapy" today which included Alimta as the "preferred therapy"...new words meaning Linda is continuing on the Alimta as it has been effective in controlling the spread of the cancer.
Linda will have another Alimta infusion on February 5th and then we fly out to Florida on the 9th...the Oncologist wants a scan done down there in two or three weeks after another infusion on the three week schedule in Florida...the results will be sent to him so the two Oncologists can discuss.

We met with our attorney again today and were simply amazed at how many things we still have to do to get our trust in order....we thought we were on top of things but work needs to be done....

Linda's Aunt Margaret passed away....Linda is sad (and so is Dave) as she was a wonderful person who we got to see for the last time on our Nebraska trip last summer. We also hear that step sister Vicky is not faring well with the lung cancer (that was in her lymph, liver and brain also)....we don't have a full picture yet...but working on it....you might remember her as "Little Sis" on this BLOG......

Linda got a hair cut today....she had a bad one done in Florida...we think the gal who cut it thought she was cutting a flat top on a guy...today's cut was more "Jamie Lee Curtis" type of cut....

Some pictures of Linda today.... Dave thought the "flower" that came on a package was a cute addition.....Linda has always thought his humor was warped......

Linda, you are a beautiful "flower girl." You look terrific. It must have been the staples that were weighing you down the last few days!

Fresh as a 'daisy' as per the photo! Good news that you are on an upswing.

Forget about visiting CA to get away from the rain. It's migrated and just keeps coming and coming and coming down. Good grief! Wouldn't that be a sad state of affairs if I left Oregon all those years ago to avoid living in a rain forest and climate change brought it to me? Not funny!

Love you,
Mary

My goodness Linda, for someone who should feel like they were hit by a Mac truck, you look pretty perky. Where can I get some of those steroids?
Seriously, you look wonderful. The smile I love is back where it belongs.
spent yesterday with my sister at her Dr. appt.rounds. I am healthy and it wore me out, lots of standing and waiting, waiting, waiting. Things are going as they should with her and she is feeling well so my heart is lightened there. Anxious to at least wave to you guys on your quick trip to our area.

So Larry says he expects you to be playing baseball soon. A quizzical look in his direction elicited the response, "With all those steroids, she should be ready." And you thought Dave was warped.

I, on the other hand, feel it's just right to have the flower so from now he can give you the Morgan Freeman look when he's driving Miss Daisy.

I truly don't know how you do it, either of you. Best from rainy, thundery, dark California.

We are all so grateful that you both made the trip to Nebraska along with Marlin and Joni and Karen this past summer. Mom was so happy to see you all.

We had a wonderful celebration of her life on Monday afternoon with all the family here as well as many nieces and cousins. We missed the Oregon family but you were in our thoughts. The altar was decorated with Mom's artwork, and the beautiful floral bouquets that were sent in her honor. Darrell, Ron, Brad and Isabel spoke wonderful tributes. We are all going to miss her so very much, especially Dad, but we know she is in a happier place.

Glad that things are going well for you. Have a warm vacation in Florida. Darrell and I are leaving for the Arizona house tomorrow for some R & R.

Love, Shar and Darrell

Thinking of both of you from sunny AZ (sunny today, but is supposed to rain next few days).

We have been at Happy Trails RV Resort in Surprise, AZ since Dec. 14 and will be here until April 15. We have our persian cat, Barkley and Brian's papillon dog, Harley with us as usual.

Boy, sounds like the doctors are right on top of things and with Linda's positive attitude she can't help but let life happen and enjoy it.

Our thoughts and prayers are always with you! XXOO Susan & Ken

So glad to hear you're feeling better, Linda! Sorry I haven't been posting here much. I haven't known what to say lately. I think some of the things you have dealt with recently felt a little too familiar and it scared me. I can see now that I was just being foolish.

I'm so glad you are such a strong and resilient woman. You teach many lessons about life simply by the way you live and meet your challenges. I would do well to take those lessons to heart. Keep teaching, Linda. I think quite a few of us are learning the best we can.

My love to you both, as always. Keep getting better!!
