So today we set off for the Oncologist as soon as we could get in....believing her white blood cell count was trashed...still (1.8 which is very low)....and feeling very weak,....the Oncologist agreed that Linda needed hydration today and also next Monday before the flight home....so no appointment on Thursday......which is the regular time....the white blood cell counts were improved to 2.4 so no shot to produce more cells is needed....it's on its way up....on its own. Linda also got infusion of anti nausea medications so that will hold her for a day or two...and we will see what happens.
By the end of the day it seemed that Linda was a bit more like her "old self".....which is a good sign....we shall see what tomorrow brings.
We have started the sorting of our "stuff"...leaving the things of less importance as we are flying rather than driving. It seems weird to not have the pukemobile anymore but the neighbor's mustang makes us feel a bit more powerful on the road.
We have scheduled dinners with friends at the end of the week....assuming we are feeling well....we want to say good-bye and get rid of food....

While Linda was in her two hour infusion, Dave took a walk in the cancer survivor plaza....very inspiring....the pictures show messages for cancer patients along the walk to inspire them in their cancer journey......a casting of images shows apprehensive cancer patients and caregivers entering the maze of cancer and coming out the other side energized and healed. There is also a children's memorial having pictures and sayings and hand prints of children having survived the cancer journey...My only wish was that our home in Oregon have such a contemplative memorial where one could go to sort feeling s and fears and gain strength...and...

OK, so now I'm afraid not to check the blog, and there you go again, up-chucking and carrying on. So sorry to hear about the lousy day yesterday. But your strength of character and constitution came through again. You have amazing resources internally and inspire us all....again...and again!
Thanks for also sharing the inspiring photos of the survivors park, it was very thoughtfully put together. Although you don't have something similar back home, remember, the blog community is your survivor's park, come here whenever you need some comfort.
Love to you both,
Mary
Glad that you were feeling much better as the day went by yesterday. :) Hope today brings you renewed energy and strength.
Take care... don't do too much with the packing...and have a simply awesome day!
Love,
Jim and Swee
I have to bow to Mary's comments. She said exactly what I was thinking, only she wrote it so well. Linda, I am sending you all my positive energy can you feel it arriving?
I am sorry the Fl. vacation was not exactly what you had been looking forward to, but at least you have friend there to help cheer you. (Where don't you have friends?)
Get well enough to get on that plane and remember, NO DRAMA!!
Love you...
Claudia
We have meant to stop and visit that park often. Thanks for the neat pics. We will stop in ourselves too. Gladd to hear of the improvement...your are a WOW Linda ... A WOMAN of WONDER,Wisdom and Wicked STRENGTH!
Do let us know when you are home safe and sound and again if you come visit again in a few months.
grace and frank
Thank you for sharing these inspiring photos, what a great place that must me. don't work so hard at the packing, remember, it is just stuff and can be replaced if it is needed. You are in my thoughts as you prepare to return to Oregon. Take care of yourselves and don't work so hard at everything. Love you, Judy
Be careful of that powerful Mustang feeling. It becomes very addicting very quickly!
Perhaps you can work with your Portland hospital to find funding for a cancer survivor's walk. Sounds like a terrific legacy. As though you weren't busy enough already...
Reading the update after this one, I'm glad you're both feeling a bit better. Still trying to get rid of the last of my own "crud". Every day's a bit better. Let's keep moving in that direction!
My love to you both, as always.
