Brother Darron is here...to play golf...to visit...and play golf...

The weather here is going cold...some of the coldest in years...for two days ..then warming up again.

Linda is experiencing much pain...pleuritic in nature..we are beginning to believe this is all about pleurisy....today her visit to the acupuncture doctor provided a short term relief....

Hi to Uncle Darron! I'm so sad you're not feeling well Mom. I had to look up the word 'pleuritic' in the dictionary, but I get it now. Tell Dad to use words WE KNOW!!!

It's a new day and Obama is in office now! ANYTHING can happen. What a great day to be an American!! I'm just so excited. We watched the inauguration in my classroom and I just hope the kids got it. It was so amazing. Anyway, I hope you feel better and I'll see you in a couple of months. I'll bring the 3rd and 4th Twilight books too for you Mama!!

Love you guys!
Janine

Hi, Linda and Dave;
I just got back home after 6 sunny 70-degree days in Phoenix. I can understand why Mom and Dad liked so much to go there every winter.
You are certainly keeping a busy schedule. I'm sorry to hear that your pain is hanging on for so long, Linda.
Did you watch TV all day? Lots of historical memories.
Have a great year!
Love,
Ruth Ann

Hi guys,

Wow. Sorry you are still having that pain...keep your chin up! Sorry too about that cold weather you are having. It was 55 here in Labadie today. Much love, Kay and John

I hope our adventure didn't add to your pain, Linda. Glad you got at least a little relief. I'll hope more is on the way for you.

As others have said, the inauguration was truly an historic event. Stayed in my Disney World hotel room most of the day and watched it all unfold. It brought many tears to my eyes to see such a shining moment in our national history. I've always heard so many stories about what it was like when JFK was around, but never thought our nation could feel that way again. What pure joy to finally learn what it feels like to believe and be proud.

Love to you both, as always.

Sorry I haven't written sooner but I've been having some problems with my eyes (Macular Degeneration in the left eye). Since the Dr warned me not to cover the left eye, as it would put too much strain on the right, my vision is blurry. There's no treatment or cure for the condition so I guess I'll just get used to it. I do count my blessings though since my general health is really good for an old (almost) 81 year old.

Like most everyone else, I too spent Tuesday "glued" to the TV. I usually shy-away from political speeches but this time I felt as if our President was speaking directly to me. I've voted in every election for sixty years and I don't ever remember being this excited and full of hope for the future.

I hope the Dr is able to do something for your pleurisy Linda. I know how painful it can be. I'll try and get a letter off soon. Please, give Janine a big hug from Grandma.

All my love to you both, always.....Mom
