We went to a Livestrong (Lance Armstrong Foundation) dinner tonight...Defeat Cancer (Diet, Exercise, Family, Education, Attitude and thriving), part of the St. Charles Cancer Care Program.
The speaker is a 30 year nursery worker and expert.....his whole life ....7 days a week is with plants...and he doesn't see it as work...
His message while discussing plants and all that associates with gardens and.....:
You are in charge of your own vessel.
You set the sail.
You adjust that sail.
Someone is always better than you.
Someone is always worse than you.
Adjust for a better life.
Gardening can be part of the puzzle (of a successful life).
It can put a smile on your face.
Share some flowers.
Give some herbs.
We all have a chance to make a difference in our lives.
Get off the "pitty pot" and "flush".
Refuse to give up.
You (doctors) had your chance to kill me.
Taking it too easy doesn't work too well.
Doing things keeps you going.
This was a very inspirational and insightful evening, drawing upon the garden and work associated with a sucessful garden and its relationship with life.
Not a bad way to spend an evening.
PS..I was looking for an appropriate cartoon to illustrate the story above associated with gardening....could not resist this "inappropriate cartoon"....

Linda,
Congratulations on the great news you got yesterday! Things are definitely pointing in the right direction.
It sounds like the dinner was a lot of fun too. I think that's a clever acronym they have going on for that!
Dave, cute cartoon! It definitely put a smile on my face.
Take care,
shelly & jason paul
We're so happy for the good news... yea!! :)
Just got back in late last night from our trip so we're a little worn out. Jim's actually down with a cold too - wasn't much fun flying for him yesterday, but at least he got to work from home today.
Take care, and enjoy the rest of your week!

Absolutely fabulous news. I'm thrilled for you. As always, thank you for sharing.
In that same spirit, I hope you have watched Susan Boyle on UTube. I saw it yesterday and began fowarding it to friends. It's on the front page of AOL and Hotmail today and perhaps more.
Be sure to see the full 7.07 minute version. It is priceless with all the before and after scenes.
It shows what determination and belief in yourself can accomplish. Never give up. It took a long time for her and it's taking a while for you but your message is the same as hers. Never give up.
