Today I saw family members and extended family members smoking...at a Memorial for two family members who smoked much if not all of their adult (and probably preadult) lives and paid the ultimate price....smokers today who most likely are at an additional risk of being genetically disposed to lung cancer..... I saw children subjected to second hand smoke indirectly and perhaps at home, directly.....
It saddens me....
Please do whatever you have to....to quit...before it's too late....if not for yourself.....think of those around you...and the pain they must go through if you begin the journey through cancer because of smoking...

Dave I am so sorry you had to go through that. Smoking is a hard hard habit to stop. I have begged the people I love to stop for yrs, my dad would not smoke in front of me, but I think he burnt the palm of his had many times when I would show up unexpectedly...

I so agree with you Dave. We saw much the same thing in TravelGuy's family. It was incomprehensible to us to smoke in the face of the results. We do our best to tell people we see smoking, even ones we hardly know, that they should stop. It may not help right then but maybe if a thousand people tell them, they will summon the courage and fortitude to stop.
You reminded me of the iron will my mother possesses. She was a pack a day gal from the 1940's to the 60's. One day she decided to quit. Never smoked again. Ever. She is one of the lucky ones.
