Sunday Evening....February 10th, 2008

Day 19 of 21 Days...a busy day....

Today was a day of identifying what needed to go to Florida...packing and some cleaning (we hate to come back to a messy home). Linda did pretty good..stayed busy but took plenty of "rest stops"....of course we had to take a long break during the Daytona qualifying.....

I think Linda is getting better...many of the chemo side effects are behind her..although the fatigue will surely take a few months to disappear...as long as she paces herself, things should continue to improve.

We got some calls today from Champ Car "insiders" and fans...Linda was particularly excited about the fan calls as her dream was to see all the fans again in Long Beach and personally thank them for their kind words and prayers...it seems like a reality that our program might no longer exist as Champ Car looks like it might be gone. If this is true, we are very sad as we were working hard on creating another year of great dinners and tours and forums for fans. As to the why, we are being told the truth will be coming out shortly as to what will happen and why.....but whatever it is, we gave 100%...and dearly loved the work and the people we have been blessed to work with....who knows, an opportunity might present itself another day...enough said.

Tomorrow we get on the road...heading to Portland to do an early flight Tuesday to Florida and our home there.Tomorrow night Linda will be doing the BLOG..don't miss it....

Dave

We are so happy that the final round of chemo is over, and you can finally get away for a relaxing time in the Florida sunshine!

Whatever happens with Champ Car, we're grateful for all the joyful race weekends, and the opportunity to know amazing people like you. :)

Love,
Susan & Rick

Dave, while it was been rewarding to follow Linda's amazing progress, for those of us who are also care givers, it was helpful to follow your journey through all this. You also have been very inspirational. Bless you both.

On a less happy note, I sincerely hope the rumors are just that, as I have already ordered my tickets for Cleveland. Its not the merger that upsets me, its all the great tracks Champ has scheduled that will be dropped, and the boring ovals that make me unhappy.
Enjoy Florida.

Hey Dave and Linda,

Doug Lautenschlager/ FullThrottle here!

Very sad as I feel the end is near with CC, but on a bright note, the many races Sheila and I have gone to the last few years have been highlighted by the programs you 2 put together. I'm GLAD you did that and we took the time out to follow the series around the country when it was hear.

From the dinners, tours and fan meetings, to the GREAT pace car rides, those memories are locked into our memory and the memory that you 2 took the EXTRA EXTRA step to make those things happen.

Keep fighting Linda, I know you will beat it. You guys are a GREAT couple and show what marriage is ALL about.

Till our paths cross again,
Doug/ Fullthrottle OUT!

Hope the weather in Florida is beautiful! :)

You know, just because things are going to change with Champ Car doesn't mean that all of us can't have a get together at the race for dinner or something, right? It doesn't have to be an official CC event...just a get together of friends. :)

Enjoy your time in the sun!

I didn't believe any of these rumors were true, until you said it might actually come to pass, Dave. I'll still wait and see what happens, instead of freaking out over nothing right now.

No matter what happens to Champ Car, I will always be grateful for the chance it gave me to meet you and Linda. From day one (1998, I think) when we first met, standing in the paddock at Cal Speedway, waiting for Jimmy V to come out of the transporter, I've been so very lucky to call the two of you friends. We've seen so much and have worked so hard at those races, in our various ways. I surely hope we still get to have a few dinners and spend some time together. Long Beach will still be around.

Forget about all this stuff for a while and go get yourselves that much deserved sunshine. Nothing cures all our woes like sunshine!

My love to you both, as always.

Even though Champ Car might be finished I'm sure somewhere down the line will meet again at a open wheel race. Thank-you for the forums and dinners you planned for Champ Car. Enjoy the next couple months in Florida.
All the best to you Linda & Dave.

God Bless you
