Day 11 of The Great Nebraskan Adventure....no miles today....local travel....509 miles tomorrow to Rapid City, South Dakota.....Uggggggg!....longest stretch of travel of the trip.
Low key am with Linda's Sister Karen and Niece Deb having spent their second night with us in the RV. Big storm during the night with horrific winds and lightning...followed by an incredible downpour....we dressed in case of a tornado so we would be found decently dressed. It finally passed but we lost sleep. Then we were awakened in the am by a crew wanting us to move the RV 10 feet so they could install a temporary fence....no way....10,000 feet or 1 foot...it takes a lot to move an RV with slides.....and jacks...and...and. We finally negotiated removing the bikes from the back so they could install the fence close.....but again more sleep lost.....Grrrrrrr!
Tonight was the Taylor reunion picnic (Linda's Mother's side of the family)....having done the Rasmussens (Linda's father)....and the Emkens (Linda's first husband). Linda hadn't seen many of them for years....Linda hadn't seen some of her cousins in 20 to 40 years. She was very appreciative that so many came to see her (along with her brother and sister). It was very heartfelt for Linda and reinforced for her why she had made the trip. Many childhood stories were shared....
Below are many pictures of the evening.....there are many...many more.....no room for all....

Thank you for coming to see us in Nebraska. We enjoyed our time with you both. Colton is going to be adding to the college fund started by Dave. Have a safe drive back to Oregon. Love you, Darrell and Shar
Had to laugh that you "dressed" in case there was a big storm and you were "found". Too funny! Sounds like you are having a grand time.
Ginnie
My heart is filled with such joy and gratitude... I really wish I was there to soak it all, video and take lots of pictures and notes.... Please Dave save so much for me as I would love to make a book for Jillian..... They are such precious family members and I am so thanful to all of them for the love and support to sweet Ms Linda,....
Missing you! Julie
No captions???? There must be a way....
Happy people all around. I'm just catching up with you guys and can't wipe the smile off my face at seeing so much joy at your visit. It's obvious they love having you there as much (if not more) than you love being there.
Happy days. :)
I know Linda and you enjoyed the family reunions but I just want to say "thanks" for making it possible for us to have a great time with you guys.
We had a marvelous time being around you guys even though it was a short time.
Nebraska just wanted to let you know that we are powerful. Didn't it get you dressed???
Well, I hope you will enjoy the rest of the trip home without any problems.
Can't wait for the pictures of Mount Rushmore.
Love Janet
I can just imagine you all having a discussion about whether to change clothes in case of a tornado! I'd have changed, too... just in case!
Great photos! Sounds like this trip has been one heck of a great experience. I come from such a very small family, even extended, that it's always so amazing for me to see how many family members other people have. Looks like you've had a ton of fun with everyone. What a great time!
Take it easy on your long drive and it will pass quicker than you expect.
Love to you both, as always.
